This timely and informational presentation will cover plan restatement and termination rules, payment of plan expenses, 401(k) automatic enrollment, qualified default investment arrangements, self-correction programs, and annual notice and deadline requirements.
Mark Shipman, Shannon Martinez, and Erich Paetsch each presented at a seminar held by Ameri-Title. Mark Shipman presented on an update to Measure 49 and an update on the projects in Downtown Salem. Shannon Raye Martinez presented on Construction Liens and Representation Risks. Erich Paetsch presented Short Sales and a Legislative Update from the 2007 Legislation. Mark Shipman recently presented to the Salem Association of Realtors on Measure 49. Randy Sutton and David Briggs recently held a quarterly employment seminar on Family and Medical Leave. Randy Sutton, David Briggs and Shannon Martinez recently presented at the quarterly seminar titled New Employment Laws for 2008. Randy Sutton was recently a guest speaker at an Employment Law seminar. Erich Paetsch and Shannon Martinez recently presented a seminar on Real Property Foreclosures with Ticor Title. Randy Cook spoke at the Western Pension Benefits Conference. Mark Shipman recently participated on a panel of land use experts and planning directors at the Straub Center on Urban Growth Boundaries. Randy Cook was a featured speaker at the 7th Annual Mid-Oregon Estate, Tax & Financial Planning Symposium in Eugene on May 23rd. Randy's topic was The Pension Projection Act of 2007. Also, on May 23rd. Jeff Moore recently spoke before the Chamber of Commerce Business Women on May 21st regarding estate planning issues.
In February of this year, the firm presented its 2007 Legal Update & Business Outlook at the Salem Conference Center. The speakers this year were Hunter Emerick, Mark Shipman, Erich Paetsch and a guest speaker, Graham Slater, from the State of Oregon Employment Department. The topics presented were "Political and Judical Reactions to Measure 37: The Death of Populism" and "Creditor Strategies: Minimizing Risk and Maximizing Return." Mr. Slater then presented his economic outlook for Oregon and the Willamette Valley, which included special focus on agriculture, professional services, development, construction and manufacturing.
