Shannon Martinez focuses her practice in the areas of business and commercial litigation, real property litigation, creditor's rights, banking law and construction law.

Business and Commercial Litigation

Ms. Martinez assists clients in resolving a varity of different business disputes, including:

  • Litigation of claims against shareholders and directors for breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Litigation of stock valuation disputes.
  • Breach of contract claims.
  • Enforcement of non-competition agreements.
  • Anti-trust and unfair trade practices claims.
  • Trademark infringement.

Additionally, Ms. Martinez works with the trial attorney team in all aspects of trial preparation.

Real Property Litigation

Ms. Martinez represents clients in all types of real property disputes, including:

  • Boundary line and encroachment disputes.
  • Ejectment and Quiet Title actions.
  • Adverse possession claims.
  • Easements and Licenses.
  • Trespass and timber trespass claims.

Ms. Martinez also assists realtors in defending negligence and related claims.

Creditors' Rights and Banking Law

Ms. Martinez helps institutions and individuals recover debts owing to them and improve and preserve their security interests, through legal problem solving and developing and applying debt collection strategies. Ms. Martinez has assisted clients with the creation of security agreements and security interests, the filing of liens, and representing creditors in bankruptcy cases.

Real Property Foreclosures

Ms. Martinez works with clients on both judicial and non-judicial foreclosure actions to recover both real and personal property. Ms. Martinez also represents purchasers of property in foreclosure sales, and assists them with any issues that may arise both during and after the foreclosure process.

Construction Law

As part of the Construction Law Group, Ms. Martinez represents clients with regard to various issues, including construction lien filing and enforcement, collection on contractor's bonds and contractual disputes between contractors.

Professional Activities

Ms. Martinez is a member of the Oregon State Bar, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, Oregon Women Lawyers (OWLS), American Bar Association and is a board member of the Willamette Valley Chapter of the American Inns of Court.

Education

Ms. Martinez received her B.A. in Sociology, with a concentration in Communications, from Boston College in 2000, graduating cum laude.  She also graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School in 2003.  During her third year of law school, Ms. Martinez participated in the Urban Legal Laboratory program as an intern with the in-house legal counsel of a Fortune 500 company.
