Practice/Experience
Mr. Moore limits his practice to estate planning, estate and trust administration, business succession planning and charitable planning. Mr. Moore is licensed to practice in both Oregon and Washington. Mr. Moore's work and planning include:
- Appointing guardians for estates with minor children
- Designing appropriate distribution and asset management trusts for children and guardians upon the death of the parents
- Designing a variety of wills and trusts to provide for spouses, children and others after death
- Drafting wills and trusts to utilize the unified credit and reduce federal estate taxes and Oregon inheritance taxes
- Using revocable living trusts to avoid probate and provide for protection against incapacity while maintaining privacy of the estate
- Providing for future educational needs of children or grandchildren through trusts
- Succession planning of family businesses, including gifting programs whereby minority interests of an entity are passed to children or family members at a discounted value, thereby leveraging gifting powers and further reducing taxes
- Designing irrevocable trusts to remove life insurance proceeds from the taxable estate, thereby passing the proceeds death tax free to the desired beneficiaries
- Using a variety of trusts such as the generation-skipping trust, the qualified personal residence trust and various charitable strategies for advanced tax and estate planning
- Preparation and filing, or review and counsel, of the Internal Revenue Service 706 Estate Tax return, the 709 Gift Tax return, the Oregon IT-1 Inheritance Tax return, and other IRS and state forms and documents
