Business Sales, Acquisitions, and TransitionsDavid assists clients with business sales, acquisitions, and transitions including corporate mergers, reorganizations, and divisions, asset and stock sales, and the transfer of business ownership or property to family members, key employees, or others. Business transfers are often done in conjunction with both estate and retirement planning with the goal of obtaining the best possible tax advantages while utilizing a practical approach to the transaction. Tax RepresentationDavid assists corporations, associations, tax-exempt organizations, and individuals in the resolution of disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and the Oregon Department of Revenue. He also represents clients in property tax disputes before county assessors, local Boards of Property Tax Appeals, the Department of Revenue, the Oregon Tax Court, and the Oregon State Supreme Court. Where appropriate, David assists in obtaining private letter rulings from the Internal Revenue Service with regard to specific structures or transactions in order to assure the tax treatment of those structures or transactions.
