Christine Moehl and Freeman Green presented at Planning 101: What Every Tax Professional Should Know About Estate Planning and Qualified Plans on May 12th at the Scottish Rite Center. Freeman discussed property titling, estate planning documents, gift tax planning, and probate administration. Christine discussed retirement plan design, reportin, fiduciary liability traps, and IRS audits. The seminar was put on by the Oregon Society of Tax Consultants.
"Creative Retirement Plan Design for Today’s Law Firm" is the name of Randy Cook & Christine Moehl's recent webinar about the most common challenges faced by today’s law firms when designing and implementing a successful retirement program. Included in the discussion: flexible funding designs, targeted allocation groups, “deemed CODA: traps, brokerage window uses (and abuses), and non-qualified deferred compensation incentives. Hunter Emerick along with Rich Davis and Ed Davis of Maps Insurance presented at a Home Builders Association Lunch & Learn on March 20th about liability insurance. They discussed the statutory requirements for insurance coverage for Oregon residential contractors, as well as typical construction contract provisions and insurance requirements needed to maintain compliance during and after the course of construction.

Erich Paestch and Shannon Martinez, presented “MERS, Robo-Signers and the Foreclosure Mess: What does it all mean?” at Ticor Title on April 20th. The presentation will cover pertinent issues surrounding MERS, the Mortgage Electronic Registration System, and the recent robo-signing controversy.
Hunter Emerick presented “Protecting Your Business Form Recent Lien Law Changes” to the Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties. The presentation explored how recent changes in Oregon lien law take away construction lien rights from material suppliers and subcontractors that supply materials to, or work for, unlicensed contractors on most residential remodel projects.
David Briggs gave a presentation to the Chemeketa Small Business Management Class on employment laws and another to the Salem chapter for the Society for Human Resources Management on wage and hour law.
